Cryocath – state of the art technology for atrial fibrillation ablation

Our electrophysiology team Dr Mark Perrin and Dr Daryl Ridley have introduced this new technology to Geelong. Compared to traditional radiofrequency ablation for atrial fibrillation, this procedure utilizes freezing rather than burning the cardiac tissue to interrupt abnormal electrical circuits. This method reduces the risk of serious complications including thromboembolism, cardiac perforation and injury to adjacent structures such as the oesophagus, and is less associated with less post-procedural pain.
