Ambulatory ECG (Holter Monitor)
This test entails wearing a portable recorder which provides a continuous log of the heart’s electrical activity, enabling us to detect abnormalities of the cardiac rhythm. The test may be ordered to investigate symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness or blackouts, and sometimes in the investigation of neurological disorders such as stroke or transient ischaemic attack (TIA).
The monitor is fitted in our diagnostic suite. This takes about 20 minutes, after which you may return to your usual activities, with some exclusions. The monitor is removed the following day, after which the data is downloaded and anayzed.
