Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring

This non-invasive test involves wearing a blood pressure cuff attached to an automated inflation and recording device, so that a series of blood pressure measurements are obtained at regular intervals. Fitting the monitor takes about 15 minutes and the device is generally worn for 24 hours, after which the data is analysed and reported to the referring doctor. This enables treatment decisions to be guided by “real-world” data rather than isolated office readings, which can lead to more accurate tailoring of therapy.
